Point No Point: Day Trippin'
When the sun comes out and summer is in full swing, there is nothing like the fun of the last-minute question: “Hey, you wanna go somewhere today?” that we all pose to those we love. All winter long, when skies are grey and dreary, we all crave getting outside and exploring the beautiful Northwest.
While the skies are still blue and clear, let’s go! One of those places for me is the Point No Point lighthouse and beach in Hansville. Only a forty-minute drive from the island, you feel transported to another simpler time. The lighthouse stands as a beacon to ships and now, is a vacation rental as well. Yes, you can book the lighthouse for a weekend getaway.
There are miles of sandy beach to walk, windswept vistas to take in, fishing and crabbing areas, and lots of picnic spots.
With sidewalks that take you directly to the lighthouse, this destination is an easy walk if you are hosting out-of-town guests or looking for an outing with someone who is mobility-impaired.
To round out the feeling of a simpler time, one must also visit the Hansville Grill. This quintessential, all-in-one stop includes ice cream, bait and tackle, and an awesome cafe. The adult grilled cheese sandwich and BLT are some favorites of mine!
While we still have daylight to explore this season, we would love to know your favorite day trippin’ spots!
